SUMMER 2022 INTERNSHIP

I completed a 10 week internship program at Academy Sports + Outdoors Headquarters in Katy, TX as a Buying Intern in the Sports & Recreation Division. I learned about the role of an Assistant Buyer in a category that focused on hard goods and contained over 2700 SKUs. Completing this internship gave me a new perspective on how product placement, packaging and trends impact consumer's purchase decisions. I was able to expand my skills in excel by analyzing reports as well as work cross-functionally with other team members while working under pressure with given deadlines.

I was assigned an individual project during my time where I needed to review, analyze, and access sales and inventory performance of Seasoning Plan-O-Gram. I presented my findings and recommended for changes for spring 2023 Plan-O-Gram after careful evaluation of the 20 foot gondola's that held 5-7 shelves of hardgoods.

In addition to the individual project, I was assigned to a group project that included 3 other interns of other departments where we had to collaborate on how to cut shrink in the outdoor division by half in 2 years. We proposed a handful of actions and processes with cost effective short term plans and presented a long term 5 year plan that would involve more financial planning and execution.
